March 29 Parent Letter

Parents,

Welcome to week 6 of 7 in this grading period. Since we have completed our Reading/Spelling/Language requirements for this grading period, we’ll have a short break with those things. Science will resume this week, with the assessment on Thursday as usual. The study sheet will be forthcoming.

Next week, following Easter break, we will be taking our CAT tests. In preparation for this, expect at least one special math sheet home this week. The students need to practice rewriting a problem written like this : 35 + 42 = _____

They will rewrite the problem:
35
+42 (Can't get the spacing right, but you know what I mean)

and then solve as usual. This alwayscauses a problem because they don’t want to take the time to rewrite on their test booklet or scratch paper and do the math in their head which generally produces a wrong answer.
HINT for second grade parents: practice 5 x 4

There will be no writing story this week. Our memory verse will be recited on Wednesday.

School is dismissed at 2:00 on Thursday, no school on Friday or Monday. I encourage you to worship on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter. If you have an interest, both St. Paul Bishop and St. Paul Kingsville would love to have you worship with them on these most holy of days. Feel free to check with me about worship times.

I pray you have a safe, happy and blessed Easter.
