September 7 Parent Letter

Parents,

Flash cards, flash cards, flash cards! If you don’t already have them, third and fourth graders need them! Second grade began their speed drills today, and will continue to have these each day. Third grade has begun their 2 multiplication families and we will begin the 3 family this week. If you are practicing with flash cards, please practice on the 2’s and 3’s. Fourth graders are already doing some difficult multiplication and division is on top of us. They obviously will have lots of trouble with division if they don’t know their multiplication facts. I know there are some good apps you could download to their IPods. Practice, practice, practice on the multiplication facts!

If you haven’t sent back the Star Student page and the decorated star with a picture, please try to get that done this week.

We have saved our pictures for our power point project. Next up is finding information on our topics. If you’ve already looked up things with your child, they are welcome to think of 4-5 “bullet points” that we can type up next week. We will also work on this in class.

Continue checking the class web page. Science study sheets and memory work will be posted each week. Our weekly Science assessment will usually be on Thursday.

Two additional items...with the rain...most likely will come mosquitoes. Please send insect repellent marked with your child's name if you would like them to have it. Also, look for the note about the Bishop Homecoming Parade in your child's folder. We need those returned on Wednesday.
