September 20 Parent Letter

Parents,

This week, third graders will begin studying the 4 fact family. If you are practicing with flash cards at home, please add in the 4’s.

The students continue to work on a program on our classroom computer, Math Facts in a Flash. I want each student to get on at least once a week. This is a math facts program that times the student (2 minutes). In order to move to the next level, they must score 100% within the time goal. My goal is that no student in either grade need to count on their fingers! Students have been making good progress.

Remember to encourage you child to bring home a book to read each night. This is the last full week for them to gain points for the ice cream party. Third graders should have read one chapter book by the end of the six weeks.

This is the last week of the grading period for Reading and Spelling Tests. Let's work really hard to get great scores this week.

Remember the parade on Wednesday. Try to meet at 5:00 to help decorate the trailer, or 5:30 to load up and get in line.

Because this is the last week of the grading period, we will have Show and Tell on FRIDAY. Please remember that it is not ‘show and play’, so please don’t send toys. The students really look forward to this day.

My class is making quite the long line at the microwaves each day at lunch. Sometimes they have to wait so long that they don’t have much time to actually eat. If your child has things they like to eat that doesn’t need heating, please try to send a non-heated lunch a few days a week.

Third and Fourth Graders have their Chapter 1 Social Studies Test Tuesday.
