Most seeds would die if they all landed in the same place. They need water, nutrients, and light. There wouldn’t be enough of these if all seeds landed in one place.
Embryo – baby plant
Seeds travel by wind – light seeds (ash tree), parachute seeds (milkweed), winged seeds (maple)
Water – seeds float (coconuts), wash away in heavy rains (grasses)
Movement of animals – edible fruit (berries), tiny hooks (cocklebur) to grab a ride.
Different plants make different seeds.
If plants couldn’t scatter its seeds, the new plants would be too crowded and die.
