May 3 Parent Letter

Parents,

I am having some language issues with some of the boys. If your child could be one of these, please stress the importance of not using foul language at school. This includes Spanish curse words. Just because it is Spanish, doesn’t make it OK to say at school. I discussed this in detail with the class on Friday and informed them of the consequences of continued crude language. It is not funny, and I am not amused. Zero tolerance. I will write a Discipline Report and the student will not be allowed to go on any end of year trips. I also heard this language at our field trip. This is not appropriate for our school.

Wednesday is Cinco de Mayo, and I am planning some special activities for this day. If you happen to have any Mexican items that would be appropriate for a Mexican show and tell, we will make time for the students to show (and tell about them.) We will also sing Amazing Grace in chapel for the other students in Spanish. We haven’t practiced this in a while, so I’ll send a copy home tonight and maybe you could help a bit with that tonight and tomorrow night.

Our testing schedule will be the normal one: Science on Thursday, Reading and Spelling on Friday.

If you signed up to do the Poetry Reading Contest, expect a note tomorrow at the latest confirming the date of the contest. I have judges lined up and need to get approval on the date from Mrs. Moerbe.

Progress reports will come home Wednesday. Look for those and remember to return the bottom portion the next day.
